Molten salt energy storage may be released, and "two sodium" and nitric acid enterprises may benefit

The integration of "photovoltaic/wind power solar thermal" is gradually emerging, and the prospect of Molten salt energy storage is promising.

In recent years, the installed scale of photovoltaic/wind power in China has grown rapidly. However, due to the strong volatility and intermittency of wind and solar power generation, large-scale grid connection will have a significant negative impact on the Safety and stability of the power grid. In this context, vigorously developing corresponding supporting energy storage technologies can help solve the instability problem of wind and solar power generation, thereby achieving full and effective utilization of wind and solar power generation and avoiding the phenomenon of "abandoning light and electricity". Since 2021, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia and other regions have successively introduced a series of policies, proposing corresponding requirements for the energy storage scale of new photovoltaic and wind power projects, and most regions require that the proportion of the supporting energy storage scale to the installed scale of photovoltaic/wind power should not be less than 10%. However, currently, domestic wind and solar power generation is mainly concentrated in the northwest region, but due to natural conditions, the applicability of pumped storage in the northwest region is weak. At the same time, compared to electrochemical energy storage, the molten salt energy storage system supporting photothermal power generation has many advantages, such as stronger peak shaving ability, suitability for large-scale applications, long service life, better economic benefits, safety and environmental protection, etc. Recently, various regions have also introduced a series of policies to support and guide the matching of solar thermal power generation projects with wind and solar power projects. Taking Xinjiang as an example, the "Operation Guidelines for Serving and Promoting the Construction of Large Wind and Solar Volt Bases in the Autonomous Region (Version 1.0)" proposes to allow enterprises constructing energy storage projects with a duration of more than 4 hours to build wind and solar power generation projects with a storage capacity of 4 times. At the same time, it encourages photovoltaic and thermal storage solar thermal power generation to be built on a scale of 9:1. We believe that in the future, with the continuous growth of new wind and solar installations, the integration trend of "photovoltaic/wind power solar thermal" is expected to continue to strengthen, and the demand for molten salt energy storage supporting solar thermal power generation is also expected to be released in a concentrated manner.
